MMA Welding is a welding procedure that uses a metal arc that plays an important role in the welding process. According to ISO 857-1 ( 1998 Edition ) this metal arc welding process uses electrodes without gas shield.

This type of welding machine is a flux based process that suitable for outdoor needs. Because the wind doesn’t affect the welding process. And this machine is also very suitable for welding needs on thick metal.
But the disadvantages of this welding machine, it can contaminate the metal because of the welding process itself. The metal that you weld will look dirty, so it’s not suitable for welding metal with clean needs, such as on production equipment, framing, automotive tools, etc.

Use Of Metal Types
In its application, the MMA welding machine can only be used for certain types of metal. Not all types of metal can be joined using this welding machine. Several types of metal that you can apply using this MMA welding machine are :
- Steel
- Stainless Steel
- Cast iron
But not all types of that metal can be welded with this machine. Stick welding are not suitable for welding needs on thin metal and for framing which requires a clean weld. So you should to consider your needs while working with stick welding.
A welder must be properly trained, not only as a craftsman, but also in the relevant technical aspects, to avoid bad welding. And also must understand the related methods ( DVS ) are recognized worldwide and have been adopted by the International Institute of Welding ( IIW ). So as welder you should understand all aspect by continuing to study and taking several welding certificates.
